Today is the eve of Ramazan (or Ramadan) for Muslims around the world. This year, Ramzan lasts from August 22 to September 20.
During the day – from sunrise to sunset – Muslims are not allowed to eat, drink or smoke. In addition this is a time used by Muslims for reflection, examining their lives, to remind themselves of virtues like charity, compassion and forgiveness, and to avoid vices like cupidity, selfishness and dishonesty.
One might think that this latter would do us all some good.
